The New York State Office of Cannabis Management issued a revised Cannabis Laboratory Quality System Standard dated February 9, 2026, alongside a revision of the laboratory testing limits that aligns analytes with the Metrc product category chart. The standard sets the quality system every permitted cannabis lab in New York must run, from data integrity training at hire and annually to electronic records with audit trails.

What it means for calibration

The standard is explicit about calibration. Each curve needs the minimum number of standards for its type, with the lowest standard at or below the lowest reportable concentration. Acceptance requires r² of at least 0.990 and curve recovery within 20 percent at every point, 30 percent at the lowest. Every initial calibration must be verified with a second-manufacturer standard before samples run, continuing verification applies through the sequence, and no results may be reported from a failed initial calibration. The LOQ must sit at or above the lowest calibration standard and be verified quarterly with at least seven low-level spikes. That is the full ICAL record an auditor can ask for, analyte by analyte.
